From the

Superintendent

As an administrator, I am beyond proud of what our Momence Schools Team has accomplished over these last several years, but as one who can relate as both a taxpayer and a parent, I am thrilled for those families who send their children to Momence Schools.

Summertime, they say, is a time for our schools to rest. A time for students and teachers, alike, to take a break from the routines of classroom learning, lunchrooms, courts, fields, and playgrounds. That may be true on some levels, but many of us are still here, sharpening our metaphorical saws, and focused on making the most of our start of school just a few short weeks away.

All of that said, the classrooms of life persist, right on through the summer months, and all of us who are committed to giving our students of all levels here at Momence the best possible educational experience continue to sharpen our professional skills. Students, too, would do well to spend some of their off-time exploring new things and considering new ideas through reading, journaling, and, perhaps, a visit to some of the wonderful cultural and historical sites we have within a very short drive of our community. That’s the thing about becoming a life-long learner; it doesn’t always happen within the walls of a classroom.

As we complete one year and prepare for the next, I am struck with the progress we continue to make as a school community. Our faculty and staff are as committed to the success of our students as I have ever seen them; volunteerism, parent engagement, student mentoring through summer work and other opportunities—along with our summertime facility maintenance—are all in full hum, as we prepare for the start of the 23-24 school year.

As an administrator, I am beyond proud of what our Momence Schools Team has accomplished over these last several years, but as one who can relate as both a taxpayer and a parent, I am thrilled for those families who send their children to Momence Schools. I can say that with confidence because I know that the academic, social, and athletic opportunities those children receive here will prepare them as well as any school in the region for their next steps. To put it another way, when I think of our schools, I think of family and, when I think of family, I know that we’re always going to be there for one another. That’s how it works here.

I hope you’re enjoying your summer and that we’ll see you again this fall. We’ll be here, getting ready for another amazing year with the Momence Schools community!

Sincerely -

Shannon Anderson, Superintendent
